Published on the Clinical Respiratory Journal, the clinical trial A pilot study on the non-invasive management of tracheobronchial secretions in tracheostomised patients, carried out at the Maugeri Scientific Institute of Veruno, involves 25 patients with tracheostomy tube. After two observation days (T1 and T2), patients were treated with Free Aspire for the next three days (T3, T4 and T5).
The use of the device shows a notable number reduction of the deep daily aspirations, often inconvenient and dangerous for patients, as well as a significant improvement in the feeling of encumbrance. The number of superficial suctioning remains almost unchanged, demonstrating the effectiveness of the EFA® technology in the drainage of the secretions from the deepest districts towards the upper airways. Moreover, the application of this treatment did not produce any side effect.
