Free Aspire is a non-invasive medical device that employs EFA® (Expiratory Flow Accelerator) technology for airway clearance.
Free Aspire has been designed for adults and children with reduced or absent expectorant capacity, it does not require any type of collaboration and respects the breathing pattern of the patient, which does not feel any unpleasant sensation during its use. It is considered a “gentle” solution for the removal of secretions because it respects the physiological parameters involved in the respiratory process and airway clearance, limiting the contraindications that traditional treatments often produce. For this reason, it is also suitable for children and patients with severe complications. Recently, the clinical study “Airway Clearance Management with Vaküm Technology in Subjects with Ineffective Cough: A Pilot Study on the Efficacy, Acceptability Evaluation, and Perception in Children with Cerebral Palsy” was published in the Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, And Pulmonology journal. The study was carried out in paediatric pneumology at the S. Orsola-Malpighi hospital in Bologna with the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness and acceptability of Free Aspire as an airway clearance device in non-cooperative paediatric subjects with ineffective cough.
Besides the well tolerance and full compliance of the patients, the totality of caregivers considered the treatment easy and effective, observing an improvement in the subjects’ general condition. Furthermore, an important reduction was observed in the accesses to the emergency room, in number and length of hospitalization and in the need for pharmacological treatment.
